This year’s Club Championships will be run from 28th August to 12th September. As usual, members can opt to play in a maximum of 2 out of 3 events (singles/doubles/mixed doubles). It is a knock-out competition although players knocked out in the early stages of the singles will be entered into a consolation ‘plate’ competition. As the handicap system worked well last year it is proposed to continue it again this year. More information on entry will follow in a few weeks but please keep the dates in mind.
Club night is an informal mixed doubles evening for adult players of all standards. It is proposed to hold this on Friday evenings 7.30-9.30pm with rounds of 20 mins of play. Players must sign in and out with the organiser so we can keep a record of attendees. The first clubnight will be held on Friday 17th July. More details to follow.
The DLTC are exploring whether the Senior League (over 35s) will be held this year from the end of September onwards. The Captains will be in touch to assess interest and decide how many teams we can enter. The Floodlight league will not go ahead this year.
Members are entitled to bring a guest up to four times per year. In order to facilitate contact tracing etc, it is important that members email email@example.com in advance with the name and phone number of their guest. They will be forwarded a link to the club protocol and they must ensure their guest opts-in to it. On Skedda, the member should enter the guest name with “Guest” in brackets.
NB: Junior (U18) Members are not permitted to bring guests.
At present, there is no access for the public on Saturdays due to difficulties with contact tracing etc. Please do not admit non members to the courts. We also ask you to confirm that other players who may tail-gate you are members. All members should have their own fobs for access. Replacement fobs can be obtained (for a €15 deposit) from Sarah Jane, please text her at 087 8326131.
We welcome all our new members who recently joined the club. It is proposed to hold a new members event in a couple of weeks – more details to come. If you intend to play regularly we recommend you join the Men’s or Ladies’ WhatsApp groups as a good way to connect with other players and keep up with news. Contact Oran (083 4780535) or Pam (087 2157904) to be added to these groups. There are also Singles Ladders that you can join.
The Skedda booking system has proved a great success. Please remember to include the names of all players when booking and amend if necessary. If your plans change, please remember to cancel your booking in good time to allow others to use it – even in the case of bad weather.
NB: To allow for doubles play, we have adjusted the booking system so that you can now book up to 1.5 hours in a single booking slot on Courts 3-5, on Courts 1 & 2 you can book up to 1 hour in a slot. Please plan your court usage accordingly; just book what you think you will need. Court opening times have been extended up to 10pm (juniors can play up to 8pm)..
